Bruno Anselmo
MSc StudentBruno Anselmo holds a BSc in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (CIÊNCIAS) and is currently a student of the Master’s degree in Applied Microbiology, also at CIÊNCIAS.
His MSc dissertation, entitled "Adaptive Evolution of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli to Antimicrobials and Assessment of Resistance–Virulence Trade-Offs in Caenorhabditis elegans", under the supervision of Prof. Mónica V. Cunha and Artur Lourenço, focuses on investigating the potential relationship between antimicrobial resistance, fitness and virulence in multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and E. coli. He aims to use a combination of approaches, including adaptive laboratory evolution, classical microbiology, genomics and bioinformatics, to characterize evolved populations both phenotypically and genomically.
