Four researchers from CE3C – Centre for Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Changes are included in the 2026 edition of the World’s Top 2% Scientists, available through the Elsevier Data Repository. This database provides information on the impact of scientific publications by researchers across different fields of knowledge.
The 2026 edition includes two lists: one assessing scientific impact over the course of a researcher's career, with data updated to the end of 2025, and another focusing on citations received during 2025. Maria João Collares-Pereira is included in the career-long impact list, Ana Cristina Figueiredo and Ana Maria Seca feature in the single-year impact list, while Pedro Cardoso appears in both.
Updated annually, the database draws on Scopus data and considers several indicators, including citation counts, the h-index, and a composite indicator (c-score) that accounts for co-authorship and author positions in scientific publications. The selection includes the 100,000 researchers with the highest c-scores or those ranking among the top 2% in their respective scientific subfields.
The inclusion of these researchers in the database highlights the international visibility and impact of their scientific contributions in research areas represented at CE3C.
