Domingos Machava

Domingos Machava is conducting a Ph.D. in Biodiversity, Genetics & Evolution by the University of Lisbon starting in 2025 within the Plant Functional Ecology. He is conducting the project "Study of the biodiversity of forest ecosystems and training of local communities in the use of alternative technologies for energy generation on Mount Mabu", under the supervision of Prof. Cristina Máguas Ph.D. project aims are: To carry out a phytosociological forest inventory within the study area; To quantify the volume, biomass, and forest carbon stocks present in the area;To characterize the structural composition of forest formations and assess the conservation status of endemic tree species on Mount Mabu;To calculate biodiversity indices of the Mount Mabu forest ecosystem;To assess local knowledge regarding the use of sustainable energy technologies;To promote awareness and facilitate the adoption of improved cookstoves among local communities.
