Gabriele Sgarlata
External CollaboratorI received a Ph.D. in Integrative Biology and Biomedicine from the NOVA University of Lisbon in 2022 and I am currently working in the Evolutionary Genomics and Bioinformatics research group. I am a Post-Doc in Evolutionary Genetics at the University of California, Davis (USA). My research focuses on the development of methods for quantifying genome-wide signatures of polygenic selection. For many years I have been involved in studying genomic signatures of past connectivity in species suffering from habitat loss and fragmentation using as model system the lemurs and native rodents of Madagascar. My current research is driven by three overarching objectives: infer past demography by locating the genetic ancestors of a sample of individuals in space and time, quantify adaptation in natural populations and the evolutionary processes underlying species diversification in Madagascar.
