Beatriz Machado

Beatriz Machado has a BSc in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon. She is currently working on her dissertation “The Subway's Hidden Inhabitants – A Study of Lisbon's Metro Microbiome” as part of her Master's Degree in Human and Environmental Biology, at the same institution. She is being supervised by Francisco Pina-Martins and Mónica Vieira Cunha, in a project that combines metabarcoding approaches (16S rRNA Amplicon Sequencing) with classical microbiology techniques to study the microbiome of Lisbon's metro and its implications on human health.
