
Gustavo Rocha
PhD StudentGustavo Rocha is a visiting Ph.D. student, originally from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Brazil), with a research stay at the University of Lisbon, within the Pathogen Biology & Global Health (PBGH) research group of CE3C. He is conducting the project "Genomic epidemiology of Shewanella spp.", which are ubiquitous environmental bacteria with high intraspecific diversity and potential as reservoirs and disseminators of antimicrobial resistance genes, under the supervision of Professor Mónica V. Cunha. His Ph.D. project aims to investigate the resistome of Shewanella spp. and to elucidate the mechanisms and pathways involved in the environmental dissemination of resistance genes.
