I received a Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of Porto in 2003. My postdoctoral training was also in immunology at the University of Alabama, Birmigham (USA) from 2003-2009. I was Associate Curator for the Gulbenkian Foundation's Darwin's Evolution project from 2007 to 2009. I was Head of Graduate Programs for the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciencia and Coordinator of Post Graduate Education for the Champalimaud Foundation. In science communication publishing, I was senior scientific editor for The Journal of Experimental Medicine (USA) and senior writer for the Director, EMBO (DE). I am currently a freelance science communication professional working with Nature Medicine, EMBO and the Helmholtz Pioneer Campus.
