I received a Ph.D. in Biology from the Faculty of Science, University of Lisbon, in 2025, where I studied the molecular mechanisms associated with LAMA2-congenital muscular dystrophy (LAMA2-CMD), a disease caused by mutations in the LAMA2 gene, which encodes for an important component of the extracellular matrix. Currently, I am working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Molecular Mechanisms of Disease (MMD) and Extracellular Matrix in Development and Disease (EMDD) laboratories where I am continuing to study the role of the extracellular matrix in the context of LAMA2-CMD and cancer.
