Joana Simões

Joana Simões is conducting a Ph.D. in Agroecology / Agrarian Sciences by the University of Porto starting in 2026 within the Environmental Quality and Human Health - CE3C. She is conducting the project Food Spray: new approach to control Drosophila suzukii, under the supervision of Ana Aguiar, GreenUPorto/FCUP, Cristina Amaro da Costa, CERNAS/IPVESA, and Maria Teresa Rebelo, CE3C/CIÊNCIAS. Joana Simões project aims are: (1) Identification and testing of compounds that attract natural enemies in small fruit crops; (2) formulation and testing of their application through the Food Spray method; (3) evaluation of their efficacy and side effects in the laboratory and in the field.
