Daniel Bolotas
PhD StudentDaniel Marmelo Bolotas is conducting a Ph.D. in Marine Sciences by the University of Faculty of Sciences from the University of Lisbon starting in 2026 within the Environmental Quality and Human Health. He is conducting the project "Pastic-derived emerging contaminats (PDECs) in Portuguese coastal areas: A one-health approach to unveil their level of concern", under the supervision of Dr. Carlos Alexandre Sarabando Gravato (CE3C), Dr. Ana Luísa Marques Paixão de Carvalho Maulvault (Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere), and Dr. Eva Pocurull Aixalà (Universitat Rovira I virgili). Project aims are: 1) assess the occurrence, spatial-temporal distribution, and environmental relevance of plastic derived emerging contamintants (PDECs) in Portuguese coastal areas; 2) evaluate the ecotoxicological effects and toxicokinetics of priority PDECs in marine species through chronic in vivo exposure assays; and 3) to estimate human dietary exposure to PDECs through seafood consumption during simulated gastrointestinal digestion.
