I received a PhD in Interdisciplinary Management of Landscape from the University of the Azores – Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (UAC, FCAA) in 2025, and I am a member of CE3C's Island Biodiversity, Biogeography and Conservation (IBBC) research group.
My research focuses on the ecological processes structuring arthropod assemblages, particularly within agricultural landscapes. It investigates how environmental drivers, land-use practices, and biotic interactions influence community composition and dynamics across a range of systems, with a particular emphasis on the links between biodiversity and ecosystem functioning. This includes a focus on arthropods that contribute to key ecological processes in managed environments.
Conducted in sensitive insular systems such as the Azores, this work examines how ecological communities respond to environmental change and biological invasions. In this context, I am particularly interested in Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) that enhance ecosystem resilience and support sustainable agricultural practices. These investigations aim to improve our ability to anticipate and manage future challenges in the region.
