Helena Rio-Maior
ResearcherI am a biologist specializing in large carnivore behavior and ecology, with a strong focus on conservation. I completed my Ph.D. in Biodiversity, Genetics and Evolution at CIBIO | University of Porto in 2020, where I investigated the behavioral and ecological drivers of large carnivore persistence in human-dominated landscapes. My current research focuses on wolf ecology, particularly predation dynamics, landscape connectivity, and the impacts of major anthropogenic threats. With a strong interest in movement ecology, I use advanced tracking technologies to explore spatial behavior and support evidence-based conservation strategies.
