Summary:
The LigFish project aims to develop an innovative ligand fishing method to selectively isolate bioactive compounds from complex natural extracts using enzyme-functionalized matrices. This approach overcomes the limitations of conventional purification techniques by enabling targeted and efficient identification of biologically active molecules.
The project includes the design of stable matrices, optimization and validation of the method using advanced analytical techniques, and its application to marine and terrestrial extracts. The isolated compounds will be chemically characterized and biologically evaluated. LigFish also seeks to develop scalable protocols and promote open dissemination of results, contributing to innovation in natural product research with potential impact in health and sustainability sectors.
