Summary:
AlgaeFusion is an R&D initiative focused on establishing an integrated biorefinery platform based on autochthonous microalgae and cyanobacteria native to the Azores. The project aims to harness the unique biodiversity of the archipelago to develop high‑value nutraceuticals for animal feed and innovative cosmeceutical products, contributing to a sustainable and bio‑based regional economy.
This multidisciplinary project aligns with both Regional and European strategies for circular bioeconomy, sustainability, and blue biotechnology. By leveraging local biological resources and advanced bioprocessing technologies, AlgaeFusion supports the transition toward value‑added, low‑environmental‑impact products.
