Plant physiological ecology has a rich history of providing mechanistic insights into the relationships between environment and plant structure and function. However, many studies are restricted to a few species, at a few locations, over a few points in time. And this limits our ability to draw generalizable conclusions about the processes that govern the patterns we observe over time and space. This talk will explore new approaches for measuring plant physiological ecology, particularly for the measurement of plant water and carbon fluxes.
